Graduate Reflections on Semiconductor Special Tutoring Series

Completing my graduation preparations and reflecting on the past two years, I realized the importance of experiences gained during my masters program. While some processes required hands-on learning, others could have been made more efficient with additional information or guidance. These experiences, which may influence my future professional life, highlight the need and benefits of a Semiconductor Special Tutoring Series.

Summary:

  1. Graduation preparations and reflection on past experiences.
  2. Importance of hands-on learning in a masters program.
  3. Realization of the impact of additional information or guidance.
  4. Significance of experiences shaping future professional life.
  5. Need for a Semiconductor Special Tutoring Series for efficiency and growth.

Thats why I decided to write a review of my masters degree program on this blog in the small space that I have. In the next part, I will write about how I chose the school to further my studies. Thank you. Graduate school admission involves a lot of uncertainty, as there is a possibility that the research may not align with my interests. Going directly to work may leave regrets, while missing out on research aptitude is also a concern. The importance and experience of semiconductor special tutoring series emphasized the need for it.

  1. Importance of semiconductor special tutoring series
  2. Experience gained from the series
  3. Uncertainty in graduate school admission
  4. Concerns about research aptitude

Decision Crossroads: Stability and Academic Pursuit

It was as such. As I organized my thoughts, the decision was easy for me. On one hand, landing a job at a large corporation right after my undergraduate studies had clear advantages. Undoubtedly, it offered overwhelming financial stability. While facing economic challenges during my graduate studies, the income potential from entering the workforce with a graduate degree seemed more lucrative than the salary difference gained during the pursuit of that degree. However, I considered a greater difference – the immediate societal impact of the work I would be doing. As an engineering graduate working in a company, the products I create or oversee in the production process are mostly items that will immediately enter society. It provided a sense of accomplishment different from research. The fruits of well-executed research are distinct. When new knowledge generated through research is published in a paper, that knowledge becomes forever associated with the researchers name.

Main Keyword: Societal Impact and Immediate Output

In summary, the decision to prioritize immediate societal impact and hands-on involvement in product creation over financial stability and academic pursuits was driven by the conviction that the work I do would have an instant effect on society, contributing to a deeper sense of accomplishment. This outlook contrasted with the delayed societal impact and academic prestige associated with pursuing higher degrees. The choice favored tangible, real-world results and personal fulfillment over long-term financial gains and scholarly recognition. In the crossroads of decision: Stability and Academic Pursuit. The knowledge one acquires may not have immediate practical use, and it may never have in the future as well. Yet, the sense of achievement in contributing even a small block to the tower of knowledge that has shaped modern society serves as a driving force for many researchers. This was the extent of what I could hear about the advantages and disadvantages of pursuing the path of a researcher in graduate school.

However, along with this warning, I also learned what it actually means to become a graduate student. As everyone knows, what one does in graduate school is research. Research is the process of creating new knowledge based on existing knowledge. Its similar to creating a very intricate puzzle without a clear answer, and even if you manage to write an answer, it still requires considerable effort to determine if it is indeed correct. Its a completely different area from learning knowledge from textbooks in undergraduate years and recalling it to solve problems.

I warned you. If India has Sadhus, then Korea has graduate students.

Summary:

  1. Acquiring knowledge in graduate school may not have immediate practical use but contributes to the advancement of society.
  2. Research in graduate school involves creating new knowledge based on existing information, resembling intricate puzzles without easy answers.
  3. Graduate students are like the intellectual seekers of Korea, comparable to the spiritual seekers of India.

Graduate School Experience Sharing with Fellow Students

Lucky Encounters: One fortunate aspect was that many of my peers were already enrolled in graduate school. During my two-year military leave, I met friends and female colleagues who had entered graduate school through special research programs. As they all had joined the same graduate school, I could easily hear about their experiences. When questioning these peers about their graduate school journey, the responses were generally similar.

Reflections on Peer Experiences: Listening to the shared experiences of peers who had embarked on their graduate school journey was invaluable. Their insights and advice gave me a deeper understanding of what to expect and how to navigate through the challenges ahead.

  1. Shared Stories from Peers at Graduate School
  2. Insights on Navigating Graduate School Challenges

Key Points Highlights
1 Interactions with peers enriched my understanding
2 Valuable advice on tackling graduate school challenges

During the experience sharing session with my graduate school application colleagues, I suddenly realized that there were only two regular semesters left before graduation, which inevitably led to thoughts about my career path. At that point in time, there werent many options to choose from. After calculating the maximum GPA I could achieve, I ruled out career paths that required a high GPA. Ultimately, excluding entirely new career paths like entrepreneurship, the decision boiled down to either getting a job in a company or pursuing further education in graduate school. For those who have never seen such evidence, here is a glimpse.

Evidence: Many individuals may not have had the opportunity to see such evidence, so let me share some insights.

  1. Graduate school application experience sharing
  2. Considering career options based on GPA calculation
  3. Decision-making process between company employment and graduate school

Graduate School Preparation Process

To start with an objective disclosure, I was enrolled in the College of Engineering at Seoul National University. The pivotal moment where I began contemplating graduate school was in the spring of 2015. This was after completing five semesters before military service, and one semester after returning from the military, totaling six semesters.

It takes approximately a month for document screening, a valuable time for interview preparation. The completed application and supporting documents must be printed and sent directly to the KAIST Admissions Office.

While I had hesitations about including my military commendation, I eventually decided to focus on the smooth relationships with those around me and the preparation process for studying abroad at an English-speaking graduate school.I included my work experience in preparation for graduate school admission. I wish I had a letter of recommendation, but I did not submit one. I did not engage in research activities in the lab, nor did I excel in any particular subjects. I also did not have many interactions with my undergraduate advisor, making it difficult to obtain a letter of recommendation. In the end, I only submitted three documents. I made sure the key points and desired information were easily accessible to the professors reviewing my application. Each paragraph had a sentence emphasizing the main points, making it easy for them to see what kind of candidate I am right away. If they wanted more detailed explanations, they could read the relevant paragraph.

For the preparation process for graduate school admission, I emphasized key terms using and tags. I also organized the content into clear paragraphs with opening sentences that highlighted the main points. This structure allowed the professors to quickly grasp the type of candidate I am and easily find the information they were looking for. I did not submit a letter of recommendation, as I did not have research experience in the lab or outstanding grades in any specific courses. My submission consisted of three documents, each carefully crafted to present my qualities as a candidate effectively. If the professors wanted more details, they could refer to specific paragraphs for in-depth explanations.

Summary:

  1. Work experience included for graduate school preparation
  2. No letter of recommendation submitted
  3. Did not have research activities or outstanding grades
  4. Clear organization of content for easy review
  5. Used paragraph structure to highlight main points
  6. Professors could easily access desired information
